Our Middle School program for grades 6th-8th is designed to bridge the gap between elementary and high school, seeking to boost student confidence and prepare students to handle more responsibility in life. Math Courses

Math 6 establishes a strong understanding of math skills necessary to build a foundation for algebra and geometry. It strengthens the student’s conceptual understanding of decimals, ratios, percentages, integers, fractions, expressions and equations, and statistics. This mastery-oriented course will help students learn the “why” behind the math concept, not just “how” to do it.

Math 7 (Pre-Algebra) is an exciting mathematical study that fully prepares a student for the next course in algebra. This course includes a mastery-based study of integers, ratios, proportions, percentages, geometry, probability, and statistics. In addition, the advanced topics of linear equations and the Pythagorean Theorem are discussed. Students will be introduced to ideas first and then improve upon understanding through regular exercises.

In 8th grade, students will build on the skills learned in Math 7 and continue to prepare for high school algebra. Math 8 focuses primarily on algebraic concepts, including linear equations, functions, and systems of equations. Other key areas of study include geometry and statistics.
Science Courses

This general science course focuses on the timeline of science from ancient Greece through the 1990s. It explores the life, inventions, and scientific impact of famous scientists such as Archimedes, Galileo, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie, George Washington Carver, Einstein, and others. The course also includes experiments designed to demonstrate and test these scientists’ claims and discoveries. Students will receive introductions to biology, chemistry, and physics through the material.

The main goal of this course is to create joy in God’s creation and to prepare students for upper-level courses. Through reading and activities, students will become familiar with terms and processes that will equip them with critical thinking skills needed in high school. Students will discover the importance of a Christian worldview, observe the outside world through the lens of creation, and gain an understanding of a loving God who cares for them so greatly that He has designed life and the world to make sure all our needs are met.

This course establishes a strong understanding of physical science. It introduces students to the foundational concepts of high school physics, including how to follow an accurate lab write-up. Real-life projects built by the student make scientific principles tangible and concrete. This course may be taken as a high school science elective, but it does not count as a high school lab science.
History Courses

This middle school course covers world history from the Wars of the Roses (1455) to Isaac Watts (1707). This course is designed to highlight God's influence in history, aligning the Renaissance and Reformation on a single, engaging timeline. Students will develop analytical skills to identify and understand cause-and-effect relationships throughout history.

This course spans world history from Johann Sebastian Bach (1708) to the first decade of the 2000s. It integrates American history within the broader global context. Lessons will focus on how history has shaped and impacted our modern world. Middle school students will develop analytical skills to help them identify and trace cause and effect throughout history.

This course is designed to teach American history from a Biblical worldview. Middle school students will meet real people, visit beautiful places, tour historic landmarks, and learn about daily life as they walk through American history. Students will begin with life in America before the Europeans came and continue through the present.
English Courses

Students will continue cultivating a love for reading and analyzing literature by studying eight literary works in various genres. Participation and engagement are important to the successful completion of this course. Some of the literature pieces in this course include A Horse and His Boy, The Green Ember, The King’s Fifth, and The Witch of Blackbird Pond.

In this exciting class, students will hone their writing skills using medieval-based history lessons. They will learn how to take notes, retell stories, summarize sources, write based on images, and compose essays with clarity and style. Students will also learn sentence structure rules and the parts of speech.

Throughout this course students will read a variety of texts. Students will learn to analyze and discuss literature and strengthen writing skills through assignments designed to reflect the themes and genre of each assigned text. Some of the literature pieces in this course include Kidnapped, Johnny Tremain, Amos Fortune, A Christmas Carol, The Secret Garden, and The Jungle Book.

The overall objective of this course is to build and strengthen writing skills, including persuasive argumentation, thesis defense, exposition, and storytelling. Students will not only develop strong writing skills but will also practice presenting their writing and editing peer work. Students will also solidify their understanding of complex grammar concepts and learn to apply these skills to writing and speaking effectively.

This course aims to develop students' ability to critically analyze and interpret various literary texts, including fiction and non-fiction, by focusing on key elements like plot, character development, theme, literary devices, and author's purpose. Eight literary works from various genres will be discussed. Some of the literature pieces in this course are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, Anne of Green Gables, and The Hobbit.

In this course, middle school students will develop the power of storytelling and will enjoy a sense of mastery by engaging the reader with their writing. Students will also learn advanced grammar concepts related to sentence structure rules, the parts of speech, and punctuation.
Elective Courses

This course provides an opportunity for students to consider a worldview built on a Biblical foundation by pondering crucial questions related to faith in Christ. Utilizing scripture, stories, and creative activities, students will thoughtfully engage with the truths set before them. In order to strengthen students’ confidence as they take on more difficult academic loads and to teach them discernment and responsibility as they interact with the digital world, students will also learn study skills and study digital citizenship. This course is part of a three-year rotation examining the biblical worldview of God and Truth, Self-Image, and Servanthood.

Two full-day, core academic days: Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30-3:30
Tuition: $3000 per year, $200 application fee, plus curriculum & supplies fee.

Enrichment is offered to our hybrid students or homeschool students. There are options available for kindergarten - 7th grade.
Four Rotations: 8:30-12:30
Tuition: $800 + $150 enrollment fee.
Two Rotations: 1:30-3:30
Tuition: $400 + $150 enrollment fee.

A la carte classes are offered for 6th-12th grade. All middle and high school classes may be taken as a single course. We also offer lunch and study hall options to best fit your student’s schedule.
Tuition: $450 per class, $50 application fee, $10 support fee, plus curriculum.
The application fee is capped at $250.

We offer a Math and Grammar + Writing Bootcamp to 5th-8th grade students who would benefit from a focused time in either or both of these areas. This is like a group tutoring opportunity, open to CHA students or homeschool students in the community.
