FAQs
What is the model of hybrid education?
“Hybrid education” is a popular term used to describe educational instruction that takes place both at school and at home. For our core academic days, students meet on campus twice a week for classes taught by highly qualified teachers. All new concepts are introduced in class. Assignments are provided for days at home. Parent involvement will vary depending on the age of the child. By high school, the student should be predominately independent with his or her schoolwork. This resembles a collegiate-style schedule.
Which curriculum and methodology are used?
CHA is not based on one specific educational philosophy or method. We have studied different philosophies and have compiled what we feel are the best elements from those philosophies into a high-quality curriculum map. We utilize a variety of biblically based curriculums that engage students and are appropriate for a variety of learning styles.
Are CHA students considered homeschooled students?
Yes. You must register with an Option 2 or Option 3 group according to SC law. We will provide further instruction for our enrolled families if needed.
Is CHA a faith-based organization?
Yes. Because of our desire to be gospel-focused, our curriculum choices are primarily faith-based, and Jesus will be at the center of how each subject is taught. Our goal is that students will develop a biblical worldview through which they see the world around them. We require that at least one parent be a professing Christian. High school students may be admitted based on their profession of faith.
What is the parent/teacher partnership like?
Parent partnership is crucial to the success of the hybrid model. The role of the parent will vary according to the age and ability of the student. The CHA teacher will provide an agenda of assignments to be completed for the week, and the parent will be responsible for assisting (if needed) and ensuring all work is completed. We have an online classroom management system, ClassReach, to streamline at-school and at-home learning. For elementary children, parents will have a more direct role in providing at-home teaching instruction. As a student matures, the parental role shifts to monitoring student progress. Teachers provide all grading.
While there are scheduled parent + teacher conferences, communication is always open via ClassReach.
What is the dress code policy?
To minimize distractions at school, a dress code is in place. In summary, students can wear solid-colored collared shirts, solid-colored sweaters, CHA gear, and black, gray, khaki, or navy bottoms.
Is this a Co-Op?
No, we function more like a private school on a hybrid schedule. Our teachers have qualifying backgrounds and degrees to confidently teach their subject matter. Parents are not required to work any class hours or teach new concepts. However, we do rely on parent volunteers to provide teachers with a duty-free lunch, help build community, and make our special events successful.
Do you serve students with a 504 plan or IEP?
We accept and implement IEPs and 504 plans, when possible. The collegiate style of learning lends itself to being able to provide accommodations during core academic days as well as instruction days at home. We view all students as made in the image of God and of equal importance. Some students may have needs that require more support than we can provide. The leadership team will determine if CHA is capable of accommodating the needs of your child.
