Frequently Asked Questions

What is hybrid education?

“Hybrid education” is a popular term used to describe educational instruction that takes place both at school and home. We are a collegiate style school. Students will meet on campus two days a week for core academics, taught by highly qualified teachers. An optional third day for enrichment will be offered. For the remainder of the week, students will spend time completing assignments at home with parent involvement.

Will students wear uniforms?

In order to minimize distractions at school, a dress code is in place.

Is this a Co-Op?

No, we charge tuition and function more like a school. Our teachers have backgrounds and degrees that qualify them to teach. Parents are not required to work any class hours. However, we will rely on parent volunteers to build community and make our special events successful.

Which curriculum and methodology will be used?

CHA is not based on one specific educational philosophy or method. We have studied different philosophies and have compiled what we feel are the best elements from those philosophies into a high-quality curriculum map. We utilize a variety of biblically based curriculums that engage students and are appropriate for a variety of learning styles.

Do I still need to register my child as a homeschool student?

Yes, you must register with an Option 2 or Option 3 group according to SC law. We will provide further instruction for our enrolled families if needed. Because our students are legally considered homeschooled, they are allowed to participate in public school extracurricular activities under the Equal Access Law.

Do you serve students with a 504 plan or IEP?

We accept and implement IEPs and 504 plans, when possible. The collegiate style of learning lends itself to being able to provide accommodations during core academic days as well as instruction days at home. We view all students as made in the image of God and of equal importance. Some students may have needs that require more support than we can provide. The leadership team will determine if CHA is capable of accommodating and teaching your child.

What is parent involvement like?

Parent partnership is crucial to the success of the hybrid model. The role of the parent will vary according to the age and ability of the student. The CHA teacher will provide a layout of all the assignments to be completed for the week, and the parent will be responsible for assisting, scaling if needed, and making sure all work is completed. We will have an online classroom management system to streamline at-school and at-home learning. This will provide another avenue for parents and students to communicate with teachers. For younger children, parents will have a more direct role in providing actual at-home teaching instruction. As a student matures, the parental role shifts to monitoring student progress.

Is CHA a faith-based organization?

Yes. Because of our desire to be gospel focused, our curriculum choices are primarily faith-based and Jesus will be at the center of how each subject is taught. Our goal is that students will develop a biblical worldview through which they see the world around them. We require that at least one parent be a professing Christian. High school students may be admitted based on their own profession of faith.
